Celebration Station has competed in the prestigious International Balloons Arts Convention's Large Sculpture, Centerpiece and Buffet Piece Categories. Enjoy some of our artistic pieces. Please look closely-yes they are balloons!!!
Jessica's Jewels was Celebration Station's first Large Sculpture entry. The piece featured a life-size ballerina turning in a jewelry box to whimsical music. The ballerina was made completely of balloons, including her face and hair. The design team's goal was to make her face realistic. Their technique for face making is unparalleled. A drawer full of detailed jewels, gems and accessories, using their own state of the art techniques, completed the piece.
A pair of used ice skates is the focal point of this stunning centerpiece. If you look carefully, you will see the roses are made from balloons. Pretty impressive when you realize the creators only had one hour to complete the entire piece in front of judges. Their flower making technique enabled one person to make 24 flowers in just 12 minutes! The star foil features a photo of an ice skater.

New
Year's Eve 2000 (Centerpiece)

A tiny New York City with battery operated lights ready for the famous "Ball" to drop. Debbie and Jill were some of the first to make an asteroid out of 18-inch stars. That was difficult enough-this asteroid made of 4-inch stars is nearly impossible. Tiny lights up the center of the slim clear rod added that extra pizzazz. |
The combination of a real working water fountain made of latex balloons with the voice of a child talking to God about his own Guardian made this piece a favorite. The angel ascended and descended as the child spoke to Howard (Howard be thy name…). The team perfected their face technique-the close up shows you the angel's face and hair. Bette Midler's "From a Distance" was the musical accompaniment for this heartfelt piece.
This buffet design used breakthrough techniques to create a sleek, stylized piece. The Queen of Hearts balloon mounted on foam board was the base. The team created a heart-shaped balloon from Pioneer's oversized Queen of Hearts foil. This hand-made balloon's perfection had even the professional judges baffled!!!

Eagle
(Buffet)

This all American buffet piece combined American icons-an eagle, the Declaration of Independence, an ink well and a print of the Declaration signers. The eagle's head was created with heart-shaped latex. The body was made of 11" latex cut to resemble feathers. The ink well is even a balloon. The best compliment an artist can receive is someone attempting to copy her work. Debbie and Jill were quite pleased when they saw their piece recreated at Balloon Camp. The difference? The eagle was about 10-ft tall! |
